Tom Ellis' Accomplishments
Reducing Our Tax Burden
In a time when taxes never seem to go anywhere but up, it’s good to know thatTom Ellis has been bucking the trend. With a population that is larger than some states and a budget of almost a half a billion dollars, running Montgomery County’s government effectively and efficiently was no simple task.
Fiscal Responsibility
What is the definition of a public servant . . . one who puts the needs of the citizens above his or her own. In a time when people feel that our elected officials have lost sight of what’s best for the citizens, it’s good to know that Tom Ellis has been a watchdog for all of us. Tom has brought innovative thinking to fiscal responsibility in Montgomery County’s government.
Protecting Our Children
When the horrible events of the school shootings in Lancaster unfolded, families watched the coverage in horror. Troubled by the horrific events that had transpired, Tom Ellis knew that something needed to be done.
Protecting Our Quality of Life
When more and more of Montgomery County’s open space continued to fall prey to "urban sprawl”, Tom Ellis fought to keep Montgomery County green. Since January 1, 2004 when Tom became a member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners he was successful in his efforts to preserve thousands of acres of open space and farmland as "special treasures". Tom has worked hard on quality of life issues during his tenure.
